Re: Sks-devel Digest, Vol 195, Issue 5

SKS Devel mailing list
Dan,

I have added you to the peer list on keyserver.insect.com .  The peer string for our server is:

keyserver.insect.com           11370   # Jason Schwarz <[hidden email]> 0x76626AA6

I tried to email you, but your site is actually blocking email from insect.com .

I asked once before, but only one person responded. So let me try again.
I'm looking for people to partner with for sks reconciliation. If you
are willing to sync with me, add keyserver.newideatest.site 11370 to
your partner list and let me know what I should add to mine. I'd really
like to get some gossip partners here.

Thanks!

Has anyone actually been able to connect to keyserver.newideatest.site on 11371 to verify the key counts or port 11370 to verify recon is up & running? I’ve been unable get a response from either and my previous attempt to reply to one of Dan’s messages to this list returned a bounce back due to a misconfiguration on his mail server that points to it not being production ready:

 save to /var/spool/virtual/newideatest.site/dan/Maildir
   generated by [hidden email]
   local delivery failed

The following text was generated during the delivery attempt:

------ save to /var/spool/virtual/newideatest.site/dan/Maildir
      generated by [hidden email] ------

Can't open log file /var/log/dovecot/debug.log: Permission denied
Reporting-MTA: dns; newideatest.site

I also got a bounce back due to a misconfigured mail filter...and the keyserver seems to be showing up just a stock new Ubuntu server web page (nothing on the 11370 or 11371 ports).
It must have come up at least once and reported because it is showing up on the SKS server list...but something changed.

In reply to this post by Todd Fleisher
Just to follow-up, my last message was bounced back by his mail server this time due to it being listed in the URIBL blacklist:

<[hidden email]>: host jupiter.newideatest.site[209.141.58.25] said:
550-Blacklisted URL in message. (newideatest.site) in. See 550
http://lookup.uribl.com. (in reply to end of DATA command)

Final-Recipient: rfc822; [hidden email]
Original-Recipient: rfc822;[hidden email]
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0
Remote-MTA: dns; jupiter.newideatest.site
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550-Blacklisted URL in message. (newideatest.site) in.
   See 550 http://lookup.uribl.com.

Setting aside the irony of this, I would advise caution to those who are either considering adding or have already added his SKS server to their membership files.

Good eye, I hadn’t noticed that one. The meta page also reports it is Vulnerable to CVE-2014-3207. While I think that alone will preclude it from being put into the pools even if it does resurface, I’d advise operators to remove the server from their membership files until that and the other issues are addressed/verified.
