--exclude '*.lock' results in an error

duplicity-talk mailing list
hi Aaron,

had a report that excluding '*.lock' does not work with 0.7.19 and testing with latest 0.8.x reveals it still fails (s.b.). can you explain why? unfortunately selection.py does not throw a stack even with max. verbosity.

~/dupl08.test2> bin/duplicity --exclude '*.lock' --no-encryption --name test.exclude ~/duply_dev/ file:///tmp/dupltestexcl
Fatal Error: The file specification
    *.lock
cannot match any files in the base directory
    /srv/www/vhosts/jamoke.net/duply_dev
Useful file specifications begin with the base directory or some
pattern (such as '**') which matches the base directory.
