solid backup

Szépe Viktor

Good afternoon!

How is it possible to store the backup and all diffs in one file?

Re: solid backup

By using tar. Or by writing on a (optionally compressed) disk image file
instead of a real disk.

Re: solid backup

Szépe Viktor
Thank you!

apt-get install blktap-utils
https://github.com/andreiw/vhdtool
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Mounting_a_.vhd_disk_image_using_blktap/tapdisk

And there is a very tiny .vhd image mounted.
Do you know any better solution?

Thank you again!

Re: solid backup

Egor M.
No problem. Can't recommend anything here though as I don't have such
requirement. Just gave you couple ideas.

Re: solid backup

Dominic Raferd-3
You could also consider duplicity http://duplicity.nongnu.org/ which creates encrypted tar-format volumes, but it is a different tool to rdiff-backup.
